The Multi-systemic therapy (MST) program is an intensive family intervention for severe behavioural disorders in young persons aged 12-16 years. The program lasts 3- 5 months and treats disruptive behavioural disorders such as conduct disorder and oppositional defiance disorder. The program operates an intensive outreach model with clinicians visiting the family home 3 x week throughout the intervention. Family visits are often after ordinary work hours to meet family needs and ensure both parents and/or carers are closely involved with the intervention. Without effective intervention, these disorders predict out of home placement, school expulsion, and involvement with police and the juvenile justice system. The program is composed of two small teams, each with four clinicians and the two teams service two large catchment areas within the south and north Perth metropolitan area.
Hours of work are flexible to meet family demands.
