Within a supportive environment of comfort, privacy, convenience and safety, the Centre provides pregnancy testing and ultrasound scan, abortion services up to approx. 22 weeks, counselling, Emergency Contraception Pill (ECP) or the morning after pill, contraceptive advice and provision, sexual health care and information and community education and training. Counsellors are trained social workers and provide unbiased, woman centered counselling. Upon arrival please speak to receptionist through Intercom.
The Pregnancy Advisory Centre provides women who have unplanned pregnancy with a safe, accessible service covering information provision, counselling and decision-making, abortion, and contraception.

Counselling is provided to women who have an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy, have had an abortion and are seeking support in relation to this, and partners or significant others. Face to face or telephone counselling by appointment See website for further information available.

Counsellors provide a warm, supportive, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings about your unplanned or unwanted pregnancy, or your experience of abortion.
Counsellors see and support many women, some of whom choose to continue their pregnancy as well as those who choose abortion.
Counsellors will give you accurate information about your options which may include, continuing the pregnancy and parenting, continuing and choosing adoption or terminating the pregnancy. The session is led by you and gives you the opportunity to discuss any concerns or fears you may have and decision making strategies. Your partner or significant others can be involved if you wish. Counsellors will support you to take the time you need to make the decision that is right for you.

When you visit the Centre for an abortion, you will see a health worker and a doctor prior to the operation. Nurses are responsible for your post operative care, or post medical abortion follow up. If requested, arrangements can be made to see a counsellor.
If you have any questions, please contact the Pregnancy Advisory Centre, or see our website for further information available.
When you phone the Pregnancy Advisory Centre you will be given the most appropriate appointment to meet your needs. Services are provided over 2 appointments. The first is a clinic consultation where information about the procedure will be given. A second appointment for the abortion procedure will be made during the consultation.
During the clinic consultation a health worker will speak with you to talk with you about your decision, explain the procedure, explain the possible risks of abortion, provide you with information for your care after the procedure, answer any questions you may have and Provide you with information about contraception, if required.

Emergency contraception involves using hormonal pills after sexual intercourse to help prevent a pregnancy. It consists of 2 tablets of progesterone taken in one dose within 72 hours of unprotected sex, if contraception fails, the condom breaks, forget to use a contraceptive or after forced sex.
