South Australia Health referral to SA Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service (CAVUCS)

[HR-SA2]

Because of your symptoms and risk factors, there is a risk of developing a more serious illness, I would like to refer you to the Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service (CAVUCS) for further clinical assessment and care. This is a free service.

If caller consents:

During CAVUCS opening hours (09:00am to 09:00pm):

Please hold the line while we transfer you through. If the line is disconnected, please call the CAVUCS line on (08) 8161 8207

If your symptoms become more severe, please call 000 or present to an Emergency Department and tell them that you, or the person with symptoms, have COVID-19 symptoms.

Outside of CAVUCS opening hours:

You will receive a text message with details on how to connect to the Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service (CAVUCS). This service is available 09:00am to 09:00pm, 7 days a week.

If your symptoms become more severe, please call 000 or present to an Emergency Department and tell them that you, or the person with symptoms, have COVID-19 symptoms.

If caller declines consent:

Contact a doctor within 2 hours. Tell them that you, or the person with symptoms, have tested positive to COVID-19, or are awaiting a test result.

Because of the symptoms and risk factors, there is a higher risk of developing a more serious illness. Monitor the symptoms closely.

If you've tested positive to COVID-19, you should isolate at home.

You can leave your home to get necessary medical care.

If a GP is unavailable or closed, follow their instructions for contacting the emergency doctor, or attend your nearest emergency department (ED). Some EDs offer telehealth services. If you can't do either safely, call 000.

Offer to help the caller to find a GP/ED using the healthdirect NHSD.
