The Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Department at Concord Hospital provides an inpatient, consultation and outpatient service at Concord Hospital and a consultation service at Canterbury Hospital. Typically the ID service provides diagnostic and management advice for patients across a broad range of disciplines – this includes Multidrug Resistant Bacterial Infections, Returned Travellers, Soft Tissue and Bone & Joint infection (including Prosthetic Joint Infections), Tuberculosis, Gastrointestional Infections, Parasitic and Fungal Infection, etc. The Microbiology service compliments the ID service and has a special interest in diagnosis of Fungal, Parasitic, Mycobacterial and Gastrointestinal infections as well as detection of antimicrobial resistance. The unit also has experience in hospital infection control management.
