Telecross is a very simple concept - a free reassuring daily phone call for seniors, those with a disability and carers. Run by Red Cross all over Australia, Telecross provides a friendly daily phone call by volunteers to members of the community who may be housebound, unwell or have chronic or unstable medical conditions to ensure that they are safe and well. Telecross provides peace of mind to you and your family and a way for people to remain engaged with the wider community, and can provide services to people in South East NSW as well as the ACT.
Calls are made within an agreed time period each morning to people who live alone, are socially isolated or at risk of accident or illness, and calls can receive calls seven days a week. If a client does not answer their phone, we will make a further attempt before staff contact your nominated contacts to ask them to check on you immediately.  If no-one is available Red Cross will request that the police visit to conduct a welfare check.  
Clients and volunteers also hold social groups to share new connections with others in Red Cross programs.

Fees for Telecross are based on an annual subscription. Payment plans may be arranged for self-funded subscribers.

Australian Red Cross - ACT/SENSW

Services include: The Australian Red Cross has several community services such as Meals on Wheels, TeleCHAT, Telecross, Meditrak, Blood Service, Personal Alarm Service and various other visitor programs that are designed to improve the lives of vulnerable people in Canberra.

Our free orientation and mobility (O&M) services can assist anyone, of any age, with any degree of vision loss who has difficulty moving around due to their impaired vision. O&M instructors provide information, support and education to families, childcare centres, schools and other agencies. 

They work with people who have a variety of individual and complex needs. Instructors travel to the client, meaning that the training is provided where it is most needed, in the home, in the local community, at school or at work.

GUIDE DOGS NSW/ACT

Services include: Free assessment and training to people of all ages who have lost some or all of their vision. Aids supplied to enhance independent access to community, vocational and education services include canes, electronic aids, guide dogs, adapted GPS. Services also include public education, access advice, and scanning programs for those who have lost vision due to stroke or Acquired Brain Injury. Training and equipment provided to individuals and agencies is all free if not covered by NDIS.

Wellways Australia - ACT

services include: Wellways Australia Limited is a leading not-for-profit mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Tasmania. Our services span mental health, disability and community care, and reach thousands of people each year.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) launched in July 2013, following years of discussion about the need for a major reform of disability services in Australia. 
The NDIS is a new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. The NDIS is the insurance that gives us all peace of mind. Disability could affect anyone - having the right support makes a big difference.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) - Woden Office

Services include: The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency whose role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which will support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.
The NDIS will mean peace of mind for every Australian, for anyone who has, or might acquire, a disability.

Sharing Places Inc - Corin

Services include: Sharing Places Inc. is an ACT non-government, not for profit organisation and the leading specialist disability service in Canberra, which is committed to supporting people with disabilities and high and complex needs.

Motor Neurone Disease Association of NSW - Pearce

Services include: Motor Neurone Disease MND NSW provides information and support to people with MND, their carers and family in NSW and the ACT. MND Advisors provide face to face and telephone support and help connect people to the appropriate services. Equipment is provided through FlexEquip to people living with MND. MND NSW also provides information to health and community professionals and advocates on behalf of people with MND.  Support groups meetings held bi-monthly in the ACT.

People with Disabilities ACT Inc. represents, promotes and supports the collective interests of people with disabilities. We work to bring about an inclusive society by improving policies, programs and practices in our society which support people with disabilities to have the best life possible. We can provide information, advice and educational resources to assist people with disabilities.

People with Disabilities ACT inc.

Services include: People with Disabilities ACT Inc. is a not for profit consumer systemic advocacy organisation who work to represent the interests of people with disabilities in the ACT. PWD ACT works within a social model of disability to improve access to all amenities and to all forms of information and activities in the community. PWD ACT also works to inform the community about disability issues.
