Disability and Community Care Services provides leadership and support for sectors providing disability, community mental health, and home and community care. We are responsible for developing policies and programs, and delivering services that support people with a disability, frail older people and those with a mental illness, their families and carers through the different stages of their life.

Family & Early Childhood Service - Cairns supports families with a child aged up to six years who has or is at risk of a significant developmental delay. Services and supports are planned to meet the unique needs of each child and their family and may include: developmental assessment and strategies to promote the child's learning and skills development in a range of areas including communication, play, gross and fine movements and independence skills; practical information and support on the child's developmental needs; support with planning and decision-making for current and future needs; assistance and strategies for understanding and responding to behavioural issues; groups and information sessions on areas such as toilet training, communication, play and behaviour; opportunities to link with other families and support groups; connections with other services and agencies such as playgroups, childcare, kindergarten, school and respite support; information and support for community agencies to promote the inclusion of children with a disability. Services may be provided in the family home, at a Disability Services Queensland service centre or other designated centres such as a childcare centre or family day care.

Parramatta Early childhood Development Unit offer services to children from birth to six years who have or suspected of having significant educational needs. These include: Playgroup for children up to the age of three and their parents; Unit based programs for children 3-6 years run on a session by session basis, morning, afternoon or full day; home based programs; Support in other educational locations through outreach support; and Managing Young Children Program (MYCP).

FNQ Independent Living Support Association provides support service to people with a disability living independently in the community. Can provide lifestyle support for people who receive DS funding and can provide drop in support after hours. Disability friendly, in-home accommodation support.

Far North Qld Youth Assistance Fund Inc provides numerous Youth Achiever Awards, Scholarships and Bursaries to deserving youth achievers in the fields of sport, secondary and tertiary education and the arts. These Awards are provided to youth whose families do not have the financial capacity to achieve the child's desired outcome. The Fund also assists disadvantaged youth with personal, health, education or welfare needs. This has at times been achieved with the help of other organisations. The Fund assists youth under the age of 21, whose parents are unable to pay for school resource hire or uniforms for students attending school. We also present scholarships to eligible students who have been selected in Peninsula or State teams in any sport. Assistance is also given to eligible year 12 leavers, whether they wish to attend University or a TAFE College. The Fund will endeavour to assist applicants according to their need and the availability of funds on hand at the time of application.

Far North QLD Youth Assistance Fund

Services provided for adults with disabilities assisting them to remain independent and live in the home of their choice as well as access to the community. Examples of services includes Learning and life skills including - assistance with meal preparation, budgeting, shopping and leisure activities. Volunteers are welcome.

ARC Disability Services Inc. provides support services for people who have disabilities, and for their families. Services offered include the ARC Respite House, the ARC Flexi Respite Service, the ARC Post School Services Program, the ARC Older Parent Carer Program and the ARC Family Support Program.

Arc Flexi Respite

The ARC Resource Centre is a service provided by ARC Disability Services Inc. It is a community-based organisation that provides specialist services, learning and educational equipment, adaptive and assistive technology and therapy consultation to young people with disabilities, their families and schools. The Resource Centre is available to children with a disability or special needs between the ages of 0 and 18.
