The Amputee Service provides specialist rehabilitation and management for amputee clients as follows:
-- Preoperative consultation
-- Specialised orthotic management for musculoskeletal and neurological disorders
-- Acute surgical wards: Rehabilitation Medicine assessment and immediate postoperative prosthetic intervention (removable rigid dressing, RRD)
-- Multidisciplinary inpatient prosthetic amputee rehabilitation
-- Multidisciplinary outpatient amputee rehabilitation (Community Therapy Service)
-- Definitive prosthetic management (Artificial Limb Program): weekly amputee clinic on Friday for new assessments and ongoing review
Aims:
-- To provide specialist assessment and management of amputee clients.
-- To liaise with the amputee client's GP, specialists and other services to achieve optimal ongoing management for clients.
-- To provide specialised orthotic service
