BBCRI HACC Services & South Coast Community Care
BBCR promote the option of sharing the caring by providing carers the opportunity to 'take a break' for themselves. Often carers find that it has become difficult to find time to attend activities such as shopping, seeing a movie, having a coffee with a friend or just having some time alone. Continuing to find this time is important when you are providing care and support for someone else. Our flexible respite programs offer a variety of options including in home respite, community access in a group or as an individual. Please ring 44227422 or 44433434 to discuss further details.
Cottage respite gives carers the opportunity for a short break where the person they care for stays at BBCR's cottage in Sanctuary Point. Paradise Cottage is a 4-bedroom house where guests enjoy a four night stay from Friday morning until Tuesday afternoon. The cottage has two trained staff on duty at all times providing assistance with daily care needs in a safe and friendly environment. The weekend includes home cooked meals, a local outing on the Saturday, attending group activities Monday and Tuesday at other BBCR venues, board games, and watching movies. Care plans are developed taking into account each individual's care needs and preferences. Please ring 44227422 or 44433434 to discuss further details.
Centre-base Respite: Groups meet weekdays and include social, card/games, walking and dementia specific groups. Activities are planned which encourage good company, participant interaction, guest entertainers or speakers, craft and games. The groups have a focus on not only providing the carer a break from their caring role but also providing opportunities for people who live in the community and are aged 65 years or over (50 years and over if you're of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent) to undertake meaningful engaging activities. Please ring 44433434 or 44227422 for further information on how we can support you to maintain your social activities or introduce you to new ones.
