Disability Support Services provide a range of support to people with an identified disability: intellectual, sensory, physical or acquired brain injury. The program operates in Macedon Ranges Shire and Bendigo. It is funded by the Department of Human Services under the Disability Services Act (2006).
There are three components of the program:
-- Outreach, which assists people living independently in the community
-- Intensive supports for a small number of people sharing accommodation
-- Individual packages designed to assist people with complex needs to live independently in the community.
The program is flexible and aims to meet people's individual needs. Direct support may include:
-- developing living skills
-- budgeting and banking
-- domestic routines
-- linking to the community
-- liaison with other service providers
-- in-home respite
-- respite designed to suit individual needs
