Additional Information:
DadsWA- Through DadsWA, Ngala aims to engage men in early parenting by providing a 'male friendly' environment across all Ngala services. DadsWA is staffed by male workers and assists men to gain the skills needed for them to be fully involved in all aspects of parenting and fatherhood, encouraging them to build close, strong relationships with their children as loving, caring and active fathers. DadsWA@ngala.com.au.School Workshops- Ngala can provide a presentation for parents during school orientation on specific topics that can be of short duration such as 30-40 minutes, as well as a full workshop. To discuss your school's presentation requirements, please contact education.admin@ngala.com.au. Fees apply.
HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) - HIPPY is a free home-based parenting and early childhood enrichment program, which runs over two years, mainly during school terms. It empowers and supports parents as their child's first teacher, giving children the best chance of a successful early school experience. A HIPPY Home Tutor visits parents each fortnight to demonstrate a booklet of activities through role-play. Parents then spend a short amount of time each day doing one or two activities with their child. HIPPY helps create a learning environment at home to encourage a love of learning. Parents are encouraged to read, play and do fun HIPPY activities with their child at home. In addition to home visits, parents also attend groups once a fortnight, providing a safe, comfortable place for parents to meet other local families, build new friendships and develop new skills.
