Additional Information: Barium tests are used to examine conditions of the digestive tract such as reflux, narrowing or ulceration. Tests include the barium meal or barium swallow and barium enema. Barium is a white, radio-opaque powder that allows the organs of the digestive system to show up during x-ray. The images are generated using an x-ray process called fluoroscopy.

Musculoskeletal injections are a broad range of injections that are used predominantly to treat pain.
These injections are performed using imaging guidance so that a needle may be placed either into a joint, or the surrounding soft tissues, such as tendons, tendon sheaths, muscles and bursae.

Additional Information:
Computed tomography (CT) uses low dosage x-rays to produce a volume of data that can be displayed as cross sections (slices) in multiple planes. This volumetric data may also be used to produce 3 dimensional images.
The images can be digitally manipulated in order to display tissues of varying density from lung to bone. Any part of the body may be imaged using CT.
CIG provides low dose multislice CT services at all of our locations.

Additional Information:
Ultrasound refers to the use of high frequency sound waves (too high for humans to hear) to produce images.
The sonographer places a transducer on your skin which both generates the sound and receives echoes from structures inside your body. Computers and advanced software then convert the echo information into the image you see on the screen.
Most people may know that ultrasound is routinely used to monitor different stages of pregnancy. However, ultrasound can give valuable diagnostic information about many other parts of the body and disease processes. This includes imaging of abdominal organs, muscles and other organs.

Fine needle biopsy is a diagnostic procedure used to investigate superficial (just under the skin) lumps or masses. In this technique, a thin, hollow needle is inserted into the mass for sampling of cells that will be examined under a microscope.
Fine needle aspiration biopsies are very safe, minor surgical procedures.

Additional Information:
MRI is a non-invasive medical scanning technique that provides images of the inside of the human body with a high degree of detail and accuracy.
The MRI scanner consists of a large magnet that forms a short tube. A coil is placed around the area of the body to be examined which acts as an antenna for the radio waves.
The patient lies on a table that slides into the magnet at the start of the scan. During the scan, loud knocking noises are heard due to the rapid switching of magnetic fields. To help reduce the noise level, headphones are provided with the option of having music played through them.
Scan times vary between 20 minutes and 60 minutes.
