The objective of the program is to enhance community resilience through the provision of life saving skills to vulnerable members of the community. Project Survival volunteers provide basic first aids skills to at risk and vulnerable members of our community including residents of refuge shelters, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres, detox centres and youth centres. The program provides a personalised service by the one-to-one matching of a volunteer and client and social support to older members of the community and younger people living with a disability who have little or no support. Assistance may inlcude home visiting and outings, help with shopping, reguar telephone contact or practical help. Carers have peace of mind knowing a St John volunteer supports a loved one while they take a few hours to have a break.: EntryProcedures The St John Community Care program operates in the northern, western, southern and eastern Adelaide regions and enlists the help of caring volunteers who give freely of their time, skills and experience to make a difference in the life of someone else.
