Fairfax House is a medium-term, supported accommodation service for families who are homeless or at risk, with at least one child aged under 16. The service caters specifically for families, the fastest-growing homeless group in Australia, with accommodation alongside the Mission Australia Centre, Kingswood and in adjacent suburbs. Fairfax House is one of only a small number of accommodation services that accepts diverse family groups, including grandparents with grandchildren under their care, as well as two-parent and single-parent families. The Fairfax House team helps families find and retain safe, secure and affordable housing and gain the skills and knowledge to prevent a return to homelessness. Families are referred to Fairfax House by both government and non-government organisations from across the state. However, families can also seek assistance independent of an organisation. Fairfax House can accommodate up to 22 families in two and three-bedroom units.
