Additional Information:
One of the keys to Chinese medicine is its holistic approach. Holistic simply means that the system of Chinese medicine theory takes into account the patient as a whole, rather than looking only at the site of disease.
Patients visiting the Blue Sky Chinese Medicine Clinic for acupuncture can expect three elements, these are the consultation, the treatment and the treatment plan.
Consultation
The initial consultation generally takes around one hour and is the most thorough questioning of the treatment process. At this stage the doctor is gathering as much information as is needed to make an accurate diagnosis. Subsequent consultations are generally shorter and are aimed at determining any changes that may have occurred since the previous treatment.
Treatment
This may consist of a number of modalities depending on the condition that is being treated. Usually if you are having acupuncture you will spend between 15-30 minutes with the needles retained. In this time herbs will be prepared if necessary. We endeavour to create a calm and relaxing environment for your treatment.
Treatment plan
The doctor, based on the diagnosis, will determine a treatment plan for the patient. This should give an idea as to the potential length of treatment, the number of courses that may be required and the form that treatment will take (e.g) whether the treatment will consist of acupuncture or herbal medicine alone, a combination of the two or some other factor including referral.
Appointments are required and fees apply for services. Please call our reception or see our website for more information.
