Aims
To prevent migrant people from living in isolation and from being placed in nursing homes.
Through the Ethno Specific Health Services, staff are able to visit people in their own home to determine their needs, and then to:
-- Provide social support;
-- Help to complete forms;
-- Assist with falls prevention;
-- Assist with fire safety;
-- Help families to connect to services to help keep aged family at home; and
-- Provide support for non-English speaking people who attend the Mildura Rural City Council's planned activities.
In addition, staff arrange speakers for the seniors' groups and are able to access instant interpreter services on a 3-way phone at their office.
