Lifeline

Lifeline is a trusted national charity that has been saving lives for more 50 years. Lifeline works to prevent suicide through a range of crisis support services including its national telephone crisis support line, 13 11 14, operating 24/7 and Online Crisis Support Chat that is available every night.

Each year Lifeline receives more than a million requests for help to its 13 11 14 crisis line and nightly Online Crisis Support Chat service. There is a call to Lifeline every 32 seconds. These services provide immediate, caring and non-judgemental support and can make a lifesaving difference to those who aren’t travelling well.

Lifeline’s services are delivered via its network of 41 centres located across Australia. These community-based centres provide a range of crisis support and suicide prevention services including; education and training, awareness programs, face-to-face counselling and bereavement support groups. These services seek to build suicide-safe communities.

This work is all made possible by over 11,000 dedicated volunteers who donate their time and skills to support others. Around 3500 of these volunteers work as trained Crisis Supporter volunteers.
